The human body is like a sophisticated yet highly complex machine, which seems to be joined together with great precision. At times there can be defaults in some part of the mystic machine. Arthritis is one of the several physical conditions which is like rust to a human body. But there are ways to treat it without using medications.

Chiropractic care is a specialized form of treatment that uses external force and pressure points to connect the spine and human nervous system. This practice is performed to improve the functioning of the human body. Chiropractic is an effective way to treat arthritis for those tired of using many chemicals and want a natural way for their body to function.

What is Arthritis

Arthritis is a physical condition where the patients experience inflammation in joints. The inflammation can occur in one or multiple joints in the same time duration. Arthritis has around 100 different forms caused by a variety of factors and has various treatment mechanisms. Two common arthritis-known types are rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA).

A report issued by the Center for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC), on average, 22.7% of American adults had doctor-diagnosed arthritis. Furthermore, the prevalence of age-adjusted arthritis was higher among women (23.5%) than men ( 18.1%). CDC reports also indicate that arthritis is higher among old age groups. Although these diseases are commonly associated with adults, certain types prevail among children, e.g. Polyarticular JIA ( polyarthritis).

Arthritis leads to severe disabilities among the elderly and uncomfortable for many young adults. However, unfortunately, science hasn’t discovered any permanent cure for this physical condition. People use medication for pain relief, and some go for surgeries. But none of them seems to provide enough comfort for the normal functioning of the human body.

How does Chiropractic care for arthritis work?

Chiropractors use several techniques to cure muscle and joint problems. A chiropractor uses his/her hands to pressure muscles, joints, and bones of the spine and neck; this is referred to as spinal manipulation. They are also stretch and pull muscles and joints in a different direction. One of the commonly used arthritis patients’ technique is that the chiropractor slowly moves the joints in different directions.

Why Chiropractic Care works for arthritis

As different arthritis occurs due to a reduction in joint cartilage either because of age or a weak immune system. It eventually causes restrictions in the movement and pain. Chiropractic is a great alternative for those wanting a natural non-medical intensive process. Chiropractors are well experienced and possess the skills to detect any misalignments in the joints. Thus, chiropractors adjust the misaligned tissues with great precision. Once the joints and body are in the natural alignment, motion becomes easier. And it takes off pressure from the nervous system. Furthermore, once the moment’s pressure is eased from the nervous system, the patients can feel a great sense of ease.

In 2015 a research study was conducted to see the perception of 5422 individuals about using Doctor of Chiropractic doctors among US adults. Participants were selected across different states. Among the respondent’s majority, 61.4% considered chiropractic to be effective for neck and back pain. 52.6% of participants considered a doctor of chiropractors to be trustworthy. 13.47% of the total participants indicated that they had visited chiropractors in the last 12 months.

This study indicates the preferences of people for chiropractic care. It is not to say that all forms of arthritis can be better with chiropractic, but several studies have shown the effectiveness of spinal manipulation to relieve neck, knee and back pain. A research report published by the healthcare research agency and quality showed that spinal manipulation has the effectiveness as medication for low back pain.

The inclination towards chiropractic care among the elderly for arthritis is increasing with time. The effectiveness of chiropractic in reducing pain and inflammation followed by increased moments is a big incentive for people to choose this method. With the right chiropractor, patients will achieve health improvement.
